In the first of its kind in the world, The Maldives which is known for its pristine location has announced an innovative method to attract tourists. Already suffering from the pandemic, the Maldives is now opening and to welcome tourists they have announced their own travel programme and with this, the Maldives is the first country to announce this scheme to the world.
The Maldives border miles programme has 3 levels baarana (Gold), Antara (Silver) and Aida (Bronze) which will be made available when tourists visit the country and for every visit, the tourist will gain travel points.
The official immigration of the Maldives government on twitter said “Maldives Border Miles is a three-tiered loyalty program for tourists. Tourists will earn points based on the number of visits and duration of stay. Additional points will be awarded for visits to celebrate special occasions.”
Maldives economy heavily relies on tourism and this new innovative method might help it to bring tourists to the pristine beach location.
The Maldives’ National Tourism Board official also stated that the plan and perks of travel are still unclear and how the points will be accumulated, however, as per the reports, the plan is expected to kick off from December 2020.
