Statue of Unity, one of the tallest statues in the world commemorating Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel becomes the new wedding destination for people who are stuck due to lockdown.
Since mid-June, Tent City 1 in The Statue of Unity has been offering a place for nuptials to tie the knot here. Priced at Rs 2.25 lakh and can accommodate up to 50 people according to rules from the government one can get married to enter a new phase of life.
“Weddings are a purely private sector initiative,” said a Gujarat Tourism official.
The 2.25 lakh wedding costs a steal deal for people who want to get married as it offers many additional activities. The one-night offer includes a welcome drink and all vegetarian meals from lunch until breakfast the next morning, starters and mocktails at the wedding ceremony, the wedding jaimala, wedding cake, the chori for the marriage ceremony with a seating arrangement for 50 people, and a royal cottage for the newlyweds and 17 rooms with triple-occupancy. Plus e-invites, a henna artist and soft music on the wedding day. Previously it used to cost Rs 7000 per person.
The wedding will be conducted with all the safety and sanitization methods guide lined by the government where there will be contactless check-in, thermal screenings, social distancing followed. Every attendee will be provided with mask and hand sanitizers.
The food can be ordered via QR code and the system of buffet will not be in place. The wedding ceremony can be held indoors where 4000sqft of banquet hall is present. Guests can also explore additional areas such as grounds near to the Statue of Unity via complimentary bicycles.
The wedding package at the statue of Unity typically includes sightseeing such as boating, eco-tourism itinerary and visit to the tallest statue in the world. One of the popular tourist destinations, the Statue of Unity was closed when the lockdown was announced, however, as Unlock phase has started it will slowly open once restrictions ease.
